Winter Storage

Winter StorageMarine options offer a complete winterisation program including all elements of essential and non-essential maintenance. Customers can opt for a complete program or choose from the list below:

  • Lifting the Boat - including delivering the vessel from its berth to the hoist & ensuring the vessel is lifted, scrubbed and shored correctly.
  • Cleaning - Remove marine growth, barnacles etc. Removal of salt deposits, compound, polish GRP and stainless steel. Clean all compartments.
  • Air Conditioning - Flush the air conditioning unit through with freshwater and thoroughly drain it for the winter.
  • Toilet - Drain the complete system
  • If the boat is afloat during the winter the seacocks should be closed and wired shut with a warning notice attached. The hoses should then be disconnected from the seacocks to drain them of water. Then re-connect the hoses to the seacocks.
  • Holding Tank - Flush through with a suitable deodorising cleaner and emptied.
  • Domestic Water System - drain the system & clean filter
  • Hot Water System - drained
  • Electrical system - spray the back of the electrical instrument panel with something like wd40 & electrical connections. Grease the ignition keys and battery switch keys.
  • Batteries - charged periodically during the winter and stored in a dry warm place
  • Seacocks (Sea Valves) and cleaned of dirt and algae. All parts should be greased All clamps on hoses
  • Refrigerators, Icemakers & Freezer - Emptied and cleaned.
  • Electric Winch - service and grease
  • Ventilation - ensure all parts of the boat are well ventilated. Locate and periodically check low wattage heater and de-humidifier.
  • General - Inspected and replace as required all mooring lines. Check that all safety equipment and all other gear is intact and in place.
  • Engines & Generator - Serviced and prepared for the coming season, also any generators, air conditioning etc.
  • Antifouling - prepare and anti-foul as required
  • Sacrificial Anodes - Replace all sacrificial anodes on the engines and boat
  • Systems check - When the time come for the boat to be returned to its berth Marine Options can manage all this and check all the boats systems ensuring everything is operating correctly.
